Series of Talks @9:00 pm to 10:30 pm - two sessions a day - Mondays to Fridays for approximately three weeks (45 min/session)
Most of the sessions are interactive, Participants can ask questions to the speaker - Participation via Zoom link would be more suitable for such interaction.

Dr. Amjad Waheed His Ph.D. is on Comparative Civilizations, University of Punjab. He is the former Director School of Advanced Studies, UMT, Lahore. He teaches Civilizational Theory at Hast o Neest.
Dr. Qaiser Shehzad He is a professor of Comparative Religion at the International Islamic University Islamabad.
Ustad Fyza A Noon Director Arts & Founding Member at Hast o Neest, she an NCA graduate in Fine Arts specialising in Miniatures. She is a student of Ustad Bashir Ahmed, and she teaches Persian/Mughal Miniatures at Hast o Neest.
Dr. Ayesha Leghari Doctorate from University of Melbourne. An Islamabad-based academic with interests in Educational Psychology, Islamic Philosophy & Ibn al Arabi.
Dr. Francisco Jose Luis Yusuf born and brought up in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in a working class Portuguese immigrant family. After completing his secondary studies he moved to Paris where he completed two separate licenses (B.A.) and two separate maîtrises (M.A.) in the fields of French/Comparative Literature and South Asian studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III).
Ustad Hamid Reza Fazil He is a traditional religious scholar of Arabic, Quranic Exegesis and Islamic Law with special interest in philosophy & metaphysics. He teaches Islamic philosophy & Irfan at Hast o Neest.
Ustad Rehan Gelani He is a lecturer at Minhaj Univerisity and is currently pursuing his PhD. in Islamic Studies from the University of Lahore.
He has secured Gold Medal in Ash-Shahadatul-Aalamiyyah Fil Uloom Al-Arabiyyah wal-Islamiyyah. He teaches Fusha at Hast o Neest.
Ustad Ahmad Ali Bhutta His Ustad is Hafiz Muhammad Yousuf Sadeedi. He is from Faisalabad, and his expertise is in Nastaliq, Naskh, Thuluth, Kufic scripts. He teaches calligraphy at Baithak Khushnawisan, Hujra Hast o Neest, Masjid Wazir Khan.
Ustad Rizwanullah Khan BFA USA · Former Coordinator & Founder Islamic Arts Section, Department of Visual Studies, University of Karachi · Musician & member of the band Chand Tara Orchestra. He teaches Islamic Geometric Patterns at Hast o Neest.
Ustad Hijaz Naqvi He is a poet and teaches Urdu poetry appreciation at Hast o Neest. His recent book on prosody was published by Hast o Neest. He is also a founding member of Mir o Ghalib, Karachi. https://miroghalib.com/our-story/
Qari Muzammil Ashraf He is a student of Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali Shah sahib & Al-Shaykh Idries Al-Asim in the art of recitation. He teaches tajweed at Hast o Neest.
Babar Sheikh | A Karachi-based internationally acclaimed filmmaker, ad film director, musician & audio-visual installation artist who has been studying and following the Chishtia Tajia Tariqa for over a decade.
Taimoor Khan Mumtaz Director & Founding Member at Hast o Neest, he is a Senior architect at Kamil Khan Mumtaz Architects. He holds an MA in South Asian Design & Architecture from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. He teaches Architecture & Comparative Philosophy at Hast o Neest.
Ustad Sajid Abbas Naqvi ‘Syed al-Hussaini’ has an Ijazah in Khat-e-Nastaliq from Ustad Irfan Ahmed Khan (President Calligraph-Artists’ Guild Pakistan). Sajid Abbas has also studied under Iranian master-calligrapher Ustad Nasir Jawaharpur a former office-bearer of the Anjman-e-Khushnawisan-e-Iran.
Dr. Syed Abbas Z Naqvi | is an Associate Professor of Engineering at University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. He obtained his PhD from Purdue University, USA, in Computer Sciences. His research areas include: Sparse bayesian learning, Object recognition, Collaborative robots & deep learning.

Workshop Outline:
Day 1 :
1st hour: A brief introduction to ilm ul khat -tradition in divine perspective + a brief introduction to principals and tools/essentials of calligraphy
2nd hour : calligraphy practical work - a simple composition of any 2 or 3 word ayat e Quran.
Day 2
Calligraphy practical work and islah.

He is also Adeeb Arabi and Alim Arabi from Darul-Uloom Muhammadiah Ghosiah, Bhera. His fields of interest include studies on Molana Rumi, Allama Iqbal, Said Nursi, Naat and Ilahiyat (Islamic Philosophy).

Born into a family of scholars in 1703, four years before the death of Emperor Aurangzeb, Shah Waliullah received his early education from his father. At the age of sixteen, he became an instructor in the madrasah run by his family. Rare among Islamic scholars, Shah Waliullah combined in himself a mastery of kalam and tasawwuf, the two streams of thought that have been the primary modulators of Islamic history over the last thousand years.

Dr Fazlur Rahman (1919–1988) was distinguished Professor of Islamic Thought at the University of Chicago. He was an extraordinary perceptive commentator of the Qur'an. Professor Rahman was director of the Central Institute of Islamic Research in Pakistan from 1962 to 1968. He was the author of ''Islam,'' ''Philosophy of Mulla Sadra,'' ''Islam and Modernity: Transformation of an Intellectual Tradition'' and ''Health and Medicine in the Islamic Tradition.''

He introduces himself as "Hafiz Muhammad Idris ibn Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Ismail Kandhlawi, Siddiqi by nasab (lineage), Hanafi by madhhab (school of jurisprudence), and Chishti by mashrab (spiritual disposition). As per the family tradition, Idris memorized the Qur'an, completing it with his father at the age of nine in Kandhla, Bhopal. After Idris completed hifz (memorization) of the Qur'an, his father entrusted him to Ashraf Ali Thanawi for religious education at Khanqah Imdadiyah Ashrafiyah in Thana Bhawan. Idris spent the majority of his life in the service of institutions of Islamic learning. At Jamia Ashrafia Lahore he served as Shaykh al-Hadith wa-at-Tafsir and taught Sahih al-Bukhari, Jami at-Tirmidhi, and Tafsir al-Baydawi. Notable among his written works are Ma'ariful Qur'an, a tafsir of the Qur'an, Siratul Mustafa, a sirah (biography) of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and at-Ta'liq as-Sabih, an Arabic sharh (commentary) on the hadith collection Mishkat al-Masabih.

Mawlana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanawi, was born in the village of Thana Bhawan (in the Muzaffarnagar district of the Uttar Pradesh province of India) on the fifth of Rabi‘ al-Awwal, 1280 ah (August 19, 1863 CE). He was named Ashraf ‘Ali by the renowned saint of the times Hafiz Ghulam Murtada Panipati, who was a maternal relative of Mawlana Thanawi.
He attained his early Arabic and Persian education under his maternal uncle Wajid ‘Ali and Mawlana Fath Muhammad in Thana Bhawan and also memorized the Holy Qur’an at a very young age from Hafiz Husayn ‘Ali of Meerut.
In 1295 ah, Mawlana Thanawi enrolled at the prestigious Dar al-‘Ulum Deoband, from where he graduated in 1301 ah, after studying under some of the most erudite Islamic theologians of his time. Among his teachers were Mawlana Muhammad Qasim Nanotwi, Mawlana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, Mawlana Muhammad Ya‘qub Nanotwi, and Shaykh al-Hind Mawlana Mahmud al-Hasan - under the tutorship and guidance of many who were the spiritual students of Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki.

Mawlana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanawi enrolled at the prestigious Dar al-‘Ulum Deoband, studying for six years under some of the most erudite Islamic theologians of his time many of whom were the spiritual students of Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki. Among his teachers were Mawlana Muhammad Qasim Nanotwi, Mawlana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, Mawlana Muhammad Ya‘qub Nanotwi, and Shaykh al-Hind Mawlana Mahmud al-Hasan; He possessed unmatched linguistic skills and mastered the Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages. He graduated from Dar al- ‘Ulum Deoband in 1301 AH (1884 CE).
Fourteen years after graduation were spent teaching religious sciences in the city of Kanpur. Over a very short period of time, Mawlana Thanawi acquired a reputable position as a sound religious scholar. Eventually, in 1315 AH, he retired from teaching and devoted himself to reestablishing the spiritual center (khanqah) of his shaykh in Thana Bhawan. His literary contributions “range from 800 to 1000 in the shape of sermons, discussions, discourses, treatises, and books".
Fuad S. Naeem is Assistant Professor of Comparative Theology and Director of the Encountering Islam Initiative at the University of St. Thomas. He received his PhD from Georgetown University in Theological and Religious Studies—Religious Pluralism, focusing on Islam with a minor in Christianity, and an M.A. in History of Religions—Hinduism and Islam from George Washington University.
